Somewhere Between Matcha and Coffee

So happy that you’re here!

If you don’t know us yet we are Kieran and Reyna! We live in a small town in rural Kentucky. We started this blog because we genuinely believe that travel and experiences hold deep meaning in life and we want to share a little bit of ours with YOU. Sometimes this comes in the form of slowing down, visiting new places, and reaching out to help others. This fall we will be doing just that by spending one month in JAPAN!

OUR GOAL: We will be volunteering with a local Spanish Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and having a full share in the local ministry work. We made this page so you can follow along with us as we explore new places, meet new friends, and enjoy all the hidden gems Japan has to offer.

WHERE ARE WE NOW? – Currently at our favorite local coffee shop in Kentucky writing this blog. 🙂 Actually, so far, we have been planning this trip since November of 2025. Starting out by downsizing our living situation to be more flexible in our finances has allowed us to save the funds and time needed for travel. This change was HUGE but we were so excited to do it! Since then we have worked on building our connections in Japan. May of 2026 we were able to purchase our plane tickets. NO REFUNDS (fully committed, lol). The following month of June we established which area of Japan we would be volunteering and we chose… TOKYO! Now knowing our official destination in Japan we have been researching non-stop the area, food places, transportation systems, and finding accommodation. Thankfully, as of August 2026 we found a cute Airbnb which will be our home base. We just cannot believe that after a seemingly short 9 months we have made it to just under 30 days till our departure. We look forward to sharing sooo much more with you and even some behind the scenes! We want to take a moment to say thank you for reading and following along with us. We hope you will find this blog entertaining, encouraging, and informative.
